Health Check: Covid sops disappear, health check tests now costlier by at least 20% | Pune News

Health check tests have seen a significant increase in prices compared to last year. With the competitive intensity easing off in the market after the pandemic, diagnostic chains and online players have gradually raised the prices of health packages and specialized tests.

One individual, Kunal Haridas from Bengaluru, shared his experience of the price hike. In 2021, he found a diagnostics lab that offered any blood test for as low as Rs 100 and a package of about 50 tests for Rs 350. The lab even provided home blood collection services. However, now the same tests have become Rs 200-Rs 250 more expensive.

While it may be difficult to make an apple-to-apple comparison of test packages, a glance at various diagnostic portals’ websites reveals that a basic health checkup package including around 56 tests costs Rs 849 on one portal. Another well-known diagnostic provider charges Rs 679 for 58 tests. This indicates that prices have increased by 10-20% across the board.

The increase in prices of health check tests and specialized tests can be attributed to the relaxation of competitive pressures in the market. As the pandemic subsides and demand for diagnostic services stabilizes, diagnostic chains and online players are taking the opportunity to adjust their pricing to improve profitability.

It is important for individuals to be aware of these price changes and to compare prices from different providers before opting for any health check packages or specialized tests. This can help them make informed decisions and choose the most cost-effective option available.

Additionally, individuals should consider factors such as the reputation and reliability of the diagnostic provider, the quality of their services, and the convenience they offer, along with the price. It is advisable to research and read reviews before selecting a diagnostic provider to ensure the best possible experience and accurate test results.

In conclusion, health check tests have become approximately 20% more expensive compared to last year. This price increase can be attributed to the easing of competitive intensity in the market after the pandemic. Individuals should compare prices and consider other factors before selecting a diagnostic provider to ensure they receive high-quality services at the most reasonable cost.
